Five days in an Alpine town at fifteen hundred metres, and the densest concentration of political and commercial principals in the calendar.
Davos is a small ski town in the Graubünden that hosts, for one week each January, an assembly of heads of state, central bankers, chief executives and investors that has no equivalent. The official programme in the Congress Centre is only part of it. The substantive meetings happen in hotel suites, in houses taken along the Promenade and in private dinners arranged months ahead, and the value of the week is determined almost entirely by the quality of the schedule assembled before arrival. The practical difficulties are considerable: accommodation is scarce and taken a year in advance, the town is under heavy security with vehicle restrictions in force, and the weather regularly closes the roads and the local airfields.

Why it matters
No other week places this density of political, financial and industrial principals within a single square kilometre, and the meetings arranged around the official programme are where the week's value is realised. How access is arranged
Participation in the Annual Meeting is determined by the Forum under its own arrangements. Scott & Vale does not arrange participation, and coordinates the accommodation, security, movement, staffing and private meeting schedule around the week, upon request and subject to availability.

Arrival by air
- ZRH — Zurich Two and a half hours by road; the principal arrival, with heavy congestion on the opening and closing days.
- SMV — Samedan, St Moritz Ninety minutes by road; Europe's highest airfield, with weather and performance restrictions.
Helicopter. Rotations from Zurich take forty minutes and are the standard arrangement, subject to weather, which closes the valley without warning in January.
